This charming hotel is a former family residence and dates back to 1905. It is named after Dona Carlota Echeverria de Moreno, a long time resident, whose grandson now owns and runs the hotel with his wife. The mansion has been thoughtfully converted into a hotel and has 12 rooms and suites arranged over three floors, plus indoor and outdoor relaxation areas. With its elegant proportions, ornate plasterwork and period furniture set alongside contemporary decor and furnishings, this is a stylish and welcoming hotel in the heart of Quito's historic district.

Each of the rooms is named after a bird found in the local area and is decorated accordingly with its own colour scheme, making every one unique. All share similar amenities including TV, free Wi-Fi, heating, window or skylight and en-suite bathroom. They vary considerably in layout and size, and sleep from 2 to 4 people. Some have views over the city and others face the internal courtyard.

The Bistro is popular with locals during the day, though is open exclusively to hotel guests for breakfast and dinner after 7pm. It serves everything from snacks such as sandwiches up to 3 course meals. The wine cellar is open for regular wine tasting sessions and private events, with special meals arranged for hotel guests on request. The rooftop lounge is a lovely place to while away the time as you chat to other guests over a drink and take in the 360 degree views over the city.

During your stay you can enjoy strolling through the historic neighbourhood, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there are good public transport links to help you explore other parts of the city. If you're heading out on some sightseeing you can stop off at the hotel's shop to pick up freshly made take-away snacks, many made from produce grown in the urban garden, to enjoy en-route.
