This hotel was extremely environmental and ethical. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable and spacious and we had a great view of the pacific coast in the distance.

We loved this hotel. Staff were amazingly helpful. Rooms are beautiful with lovely terraces with views over rainforest to the coast. Food at the hotel was high quality beautifully served. Other nice touches were free yoga class, the juice bar, jacuzzi, free tea and coffee, complimentary snacks during happy hour. It’s in a great location with a small nature trail. Highly recommend this hotel.

Enjoyed our stay here particularly as had good sightings of the resplendent quetzal in Curicancho Park, but had a very boring local guide. On our second visit on our own we enjoyed it much more. Good food, and nice room.

Hotel Belmar was a beautiful hotel and in a fantastic location and we particularly loved being able to sleep with the doors open and hear all of the surrounding wildlife as we nodded off to sleep. Food in the restaurant was very nice and breakfast was fantastic - all al a carte rather than a buffet which was a really nice change and very high standard. While we were staying at the hotel we did an optional trip to their own private reserve where we got the opportunity to climb a tree, put our head out of the top of the rainforest canopy and watch the sunset before walking back through the reserve in the dark - our guide, Walter was so passionate about the forest and teaching us more about it - it was such a memorable trip. Staff at this hotel were incredibly helpful and friendly.

Fabulous facilities. Restaurant not cheap but we had the nachos bar snack between us one evening that was economic, plentiful and the best I have ever had. Beautiful views, sunset and rainbows from the restaurant terrace and a second terrace in the tea room, for watching the humming birds. Very close to the national parks, but also there are rough roads that you can walk from the hotel, up hill and into the forest. Saw lots of monkeys and Coati there. Loved the Aventura zip line and canopy walk. Kinkajou night walk was good but a but too commercialised and busy. We were not particularly impressed with the guide supplied by the hotel that took us into Curi Cancha, and would preferred to have had gone on our own and taken longer.

This is a beautiful hotel to stay, the views from the dining balcony are exceptional. We had a peninsula room ( main block) which was very comfortable with it's own small balcony area. The dining was quite formal, the food was slightly disappointing and we found the waiting and bar service to be slow and less friendly than elsewhere. Taxis into Santa Elena are easy and cheap, and there are a few bars and restaurants there to use- most being quite OK. The gardens at the Belmar are worth having a wander around as you can spot quite a bit of wildlife, not visible from the hotel. We didn't get around to using the sauna- but it looked very inviting.

This was a lovely small hotel. The views from our room and restaurant were beautiful! The food here was excellent. It was all so fresh and mainly supplied from their own farm. The staff were very friendly. There was an enjoyable trail next to the lodge and a pond to sit and relax near. A great place to stay.

First class accommodation and service. Our forest superior room was enormous and luxurious with great bird watching opportunities. Excellent food but at a price, easy though to get into town as well with lots of restaurant choices.

Fabulous seeing and our room gave us beautiful views over the cloud forest right down to the coast. The little walk in the grounds was worthwhile visiting and we loved the idea of the Belmars own vegetable garden which was lovely to see. No pool but we did not miss it . Greta setting for lunch and breakfast . The Trip to the main park was enjoyable but crowded and our group was bordering on being too large . The second trip to the smaller private park was very enjoyable . Just 4 of us on it and a very knowledgeable guide . We saw just as much in a more relaxed approach. Food at the Belmar was fantastic but top of the price range as we expected . The town did not have great deal to offer but there were some simpler bars and restaurants for a change . We visited the butterfly gardens which was walkable and a good way to spend an hour or so if you don't want to sign up for one of the more expensive trips. This was probably the place to have done a night time walk

What a gem. Rooms are basic - well, ours was! No AC but a fan, insect screen and a breeze kept us nice and comfortable. They actually do "farm to table"; the herb teas and homemade yoghurt are amazing. They have their own micro-brewery producing 3 fine ales and a stout. The gardens are are amazing as is the secret valley. Probably our favourite stop.

A great place to end the holiday. The view from the bedroom was spectacular, everyone was so friendly (we went on a complementary tour of their organic food garden, which was fascinating), and the restaurant food was excellent - each meal time was a delight in both taste and presentation.

Stunning setting for the hotel with great vies from the dinning room. Great tour to the Curi Cancha reserve with a great guide Marvin. Expensive accommodation and full board so it was pathetic at breakfast if I wanted the mixed fruit juice instead of orange it would be extra!!! You cannot be serious a five star response it was not.

Great place: loved coffee, beer & fruit & veg! Our room - top of lodge was great, just that we had a storm 1st night (lost power & breakfast by candlelight). It felt like the roof was going to blow off! Can't blame hotel - just the weather!

Elegant yet charming hotel with a fantastic restaurant and beautiful surroundings. Lots to do here and would highly recommend a visit to the hotel's farm to learn more about their environmental and ecological efforts. A great laugh too as the animals are such characters!
