Hosteria La Andaluza is part of Hacienda Chuquipogio which is a national cultural heritage site and has a long and fascinating history. It dates back to 1555, when a Spanish nobleman acquired the land and built his estate, and passed through a number of Spanish families over subsequent centuries, and has counted Simon Bolivar among its guests.

Today the hosteria provides characterful accommodation, arranged over four different areas of the property. All are cosy, filled with antique furniture and decorated with dainty frescoes, and have the benefit of central heating, with some also having open fires. They have views of the gardens or courtyards and some look ouit towards the impressive Mount Chimborazo, the highest peak in the country. There are single, twin and double rooms, plus some suites one of which makes good family accommodation. 

The main restaurant, El Establo, draws on both Ecuadorian and international traditions and uses local ingredients to create tasty, home-cooked cuisine, paired with wine from the mansion's cellar. Breakfast is served in the aptly named El Mirador Cafe from where you can admire the Andean scenery. The bar serves a range of drinks and is a good place to relax at the end of a busy day.   

While here you can explore the city of Riobamba with its historic buildings and cathedral, visit local markets, go fishing and horse riding.
