Hacienda Santa Ana, Southern Highlands, Ecuador

Hacienda Santa Ana is in the scenic Cotopaxi Valley, an area renowned for its mountains and volcanoes. It was home to a community of Jesuits in the 17th century and vestiges of this past remain in sculptures and artwork throughout the house. With just 6 rooms, the hacienda is intimate in style. A wide range of activities and excursions can be organised at the hotel's tour desk.

Guest rooms are unique in design and decor, with walls painted in rich, warm tones complete with frescoes and tiled floors. All have an en-suite bathrooms with modern fittings and equipped with a full range of toiletries. The rooms have heating, ideal for chilly evenings, and are supplied with bottled water, bathrobes and slippers, plus a hot water bottle each night, to help you feel at home.

A generous buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant, including cereal, bread, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, cheese and cold meats plus hot and cold drinks. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner and specialises in Ecuadorian cuisine.

Outdoor activities are extremely popular and the hacienda can arrange trekking, mountain biking, climbing, ziplining and horse riding as well as visits to Cotopaxi National Park and local Andean villages. Activities and excursions need to be paid for locally.
