Okavango Delta Botswana

Gomoti Plains Camp has just 10 authentic safari tents which all overlook the river. It's a wonderfully secluded part of the Okavango Delta, lush with palm trees, mopane forest and open terrain. You can explore the area both on the water and on land giving you an all-round Okavango Delta experience.

Your home for the duration of your stay at Gomoti Plains is a spacious safari tent set on an elevated timber deck. The deck houses your day bed and also a small table and chairs, it's a nice spot to while away some time simply watching the water and taking in the sounds and smells of the surrounding bush. Inside, the bed dominates the room, there are plug points where you can recharge your batteries, a dressing area, writing desk and a comfy couch at the end of the bed. To the rear of the tent is the en-suite bathroom and separate toilet. There are dual hand basins and both indoor and outdoor showers. Two of the tents are family tents and there's also a honeymoon tent with a small plunge pool on the deck.

The main area is reached by a sandy path (it's quite a distance to the furthest rooms). Like the rest of the camp the decor is modern yet in keeping with the surroundings. There's a lounge area, bar and dining area. Plenty of comfy seating, low coffee tables and a collection of books are available for you to browse. Meals are often enjoyed outside under the stars, hot coals under your chair keeping the chill at bay. Then you can retire to sit around the firepit for a nightcap before turning in.

During the day you can explore the area with your experienced guide. Game drives take place in open 4x4 vehicles, enjoy the contrast of day and night drives. If conditions allow, we recommend a walking safari. You'll drive out to a suitable spot with your guide and then leave the vehicle and continue to explore on foot - it's quite exhilarating and you'll pick up a lot more knowledge this way. When water levels allow, take to the water in a mokoro or a motorboat. Mokoro excursions usually take place early morning. This really is a typical Okavango Delta experience and not one to be missed as you are gently propelled along the waterways by your expert poler. It's so peaceful, a million miles away from normal everyday life. Boat cruises will take you deeper into the delta and are great for birding as well as viewing the wildlife that lives in the water or comes to the water's edge to drink.

Wonderful. From the first welcome to the goodbye we had a fantastic time. Our lodge was huge and very comfortable. It is difficult to think of anything we lacked.
