Location: Giraffe Manor is about 20kms from Nairobi in a large estate. It is a 40 to 90-minute drive from Jomo Kenyatta airport (depending on traffic) and 20 minutes from Wilson airport.

Rooms: There are 12 rooms, all en-suite, including the Karen Blixen suite which consists of a ground floor bedroom and a mezzanine with two further beds, ideal for children. This suite and five other rooms are in the main manor house, with the others, all air-conditioned, in the adjacent garden manor. These include the Finch Hatton suite which has a master bedroom with a kingsize bed and a loft bedroom with two singles. Room facilities include mosquito nets, a hair dryer, torch, safe, phone and Wi-Fi internet access. Extra beds can be added for family accommodation.

Activities: The Giraffe Centre is a short walk from the hotel and entry is free to hotel guests. It has a 1.5km nature trail and is good for bird watching as well as learning about the endangered Rothschild Giraffes. The hotel can arrange private sightseeing trips and excursions to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum, the Kenyan National Museum, Matt Bronze and Marula Studios.

Facilities: The manor was built in the 1930s and includes a two-storey entrance hall, imposing staircase, an elegant sitting room, library with TV and board games and a wood-panelled dining room. Outside there are terraces where you can enjoy al fresco meals and a veranda. The on-site beautician is available for treatments. There is a gift shop and a free laundry service. The manor is set in 12 acres of private grounds.

Dining: Meals can be taken together or at individual tables.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome. The manor is fenced and there is 24-hour security. There are 2 family suites.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access in guest rooms.

Notes: Giraffe Manor is owned by The Safari Collection, who also own Sala's Camp in the Masai Mara, Sasaab near Samburu National Reserve and Solio Lodge between Mount Kenya and the Aberdares. Giraffe Manor was featured in the BBC series 'Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby' in 2017.
