Kenya

  • Visit the 84sq km rhino sanctuary
  • Delicious cuisine
  • Relax in the swimming pool and spa

Open: Elewana Elsa's Kopje is open all year.

Location: Elsa's Kopje was built on the site of George Adamson's original camp in Meru National Park.

Rooms: Ten cottages and one private house making up the camp. All built in a natural rocky setting. Each has a different layout. There are 4 honeymoon suites each with an outside bath and private terrace. The cottages are thatched with polished stone floors. Furniture is handcrafted and sections of rock act as features and have been incorporated into the unique furniture.

Activities: The focus is on morning and afternoon game drives in the national park. You can visit the rhino enclosure (a must) where you can see healthy numbers of both black and white rhino. Day safaris can be arranged and you can visit Elsa's grave.

Facilities:  The whole camp is built on different levels set within the hillside. There is a reception with a small curio shop. Further up are two large open-fronted thatched buildings which house the bar and lounge and the dining room. Across the lawn you will find the swimming pool and sun loungers. At the adjacent spa you can enjoy a variety of massage treatments, manicures and pedicures. Batteries for cameras are charged here.

Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome, though with the various levels and steps, this is perhaps suited to children over 5.

Health: This is a malaria area.

Communication: There is a mobile phone signal here, though it can be patchy in some rooms.  WiFi is available in the main areas and this filters through to the closest rooms.
