A great hotel with large rooms and comfortable beds which were really welcome after our long day walking to Machu Picchu. Very enjoyable evening meal and a nice breakfast to set us up for the day.

A busy hotel perfectly situated for an overnight stay in order to revisit Machu Picchu. On arrival at 5:30 pm was given the option of dinner at 6:30 pm or 9:30 pm. Opted for 6:30 as didn't think we would still be awake at 9:30!! Dinner service was very chaotic and very slow - for us. Though we were one of the first to arrive, we were one of the last to be served as the staff attended to a large group of Japanese tourists, (who arrived at 6:45pm), before the smaller groups and individual guests like ourselves. Just a bit irritating but the food was good when it came.

Positive • Perfect location. Extremely comfortable bed. • Excellent service at front desk for check in/out and storing/retrieving our luggage. Negative • Forgot our dessert at dinner! They were very apologetic! • Dinner and breakfast a little limited but adequate.

I get the impression that no one stays in Aguas Calientes for more than one night but the El Mapi was nonetheless very welcoming and the room very clean and comfortable. It was also well placed for the railway station and bus stop.

The room was on the small side but fine given that we only spent one night there. Very clean and we liked its focus on its eco policies and practices. Nice, lively bar with good service and a little central courtyard. Meals served in sittings in the large dining room - and a few large groups of tourists filled it up - and the food was good if not exceptional. Our room opened onto the main street of the very touristy town and we'd wondered if noise would be a problem - but it wasn't, as everything seemed to quieten down at a reasonable hour (perhaps because most people get up early to see see the sun rise at Machu Picchu).

Busy modern hotel. Can not fault it. Very clean, food excellent. Decor just a bit too modern for my taste. But that is just me. Hotel was excellent.

Comfortable but rather characterless in a place where there were lots of interesting places to stay - maybe not so luxurious but fitting. Aguas Calientes : the evening meal included in El MaPi Hotel although very nice was a bit soulless. There are so many good characterful little restaurants around which would have been preferable. The spa pools are fun and worth pointing out to clients as well as "bring your swimming stuff". We hired bathers and towel but better to have your own! •

Great place to unwind after the trek. Quite upmarket for such a small town based around servicing the tourist trade from Machu Picchu. Just off the main square and amongst the little streets selling gifts and silver items.

Lovely modern hotel. Our bags were picked up from the station and we could go straight to Machu Picchu, then checked out in the morning and bags were brought for us at the station in the afternoon at the time of our train back to Cusco after the second day in Machu Picchu
