Dinaka is a small camp with just 7 tents situated in a private reserve in the north of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The main area is raised on a timber deck giving you superb views of the surrounding landscape and permanent waterhole, so you can spot wildlife as you relax. The lounge and dining area are set beneath a thatched oof and have open sides, so remain pleasantly cool. Throughout there is a great feeling of space.

Guest tents are also on elevated decks and have thatched roofs. The bedroom has picture windows along both sides, making them lovely and light by day, with full length curtains for a more cosy feel after dark. At the back of the room a door leads into the bathroom where you have a shower, hand basin and flush toilet, with an additional outdoor shower for al fresco ablutions. Each tent has a covered veranda with views of the waterhole. The family tent consists of 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom and deck.

While staying at Dinaka you can take day and night game drives to seek out the desert wildlife which includes Kalahari lions, gemsbok, giraffe and smaller creatures like honey badger, bat-eared fox and porcupine. Bird life is prolific. The camp has hides where you can sit and watch wildlife for as long as you wish. You can also take walks with a San Bushman guide, a great way to get a feel for life in this remote area, and to learn bush lore. Guests who relish proximity to nature will love spending a night on the camp's sleep out deck.

Client Rating for Botswana 5/5 from 120 reviews

With only one night here we had little time to assess the Lodge, but it seemed very good. the owners were so helpful, and took us out as soon as we arrived, to see lions nearby. Walk with San Bushmen in the morning was very interesting, the men were keen to show us the old skills of survival in the desert, it did not feel awkward at all, just very interesting and absorbing.
