Impressive renovated buildings in Stone Town, but hasn't lost its sense of heritage. Funky location for a swimming pool in the courtyard of one 'wing'. Well located, and a nice retreat when the hurly-burly of the town gets too much. Helpful staff.

Slightly disappointing in comparison to the 2 previous stays - perhaps we might have felt differently if it had been our first stop. The rooms were small, the showers poor and the towels left more cotton on you than they absorbed in water! The breakfast was mediocre. That said the hotel did have lots of character and its central location was excellent.

I wouldn't go back. The location was in a very seedy looking back alley and service was average. Rooms albeit clean were also a bit on the average side. OK if you just want a bed and bathroom for a base, but that's all.

Really interesting building and great location. Lots of excursions available and the staff are friendly if you make the effort. It\'s not a place with a lot of atmosphere so we tended to use it as just a base - but in Stone Town, not much more is needed.

Surprisingly quiet given its location in the heart of Stone Town. Pretty central courtyard with a pool. The location is the real plus, just a short walk to the waterfront and Foordhani Gardens.
