  • Peaceful deserted beach
  • Excellent bird life
  • Wide variety of activities
  • Thatched open cottages
  • Get away from it all

Delta Dunes Lodge has a stunning setting with views of miles of wide, empty beaches out to sea and inland over the vast Tana estuary. There are 60km of 'private' beach, you won't find discos and beach boys pestering you here!

There are just 7 en-suite cottages, ensuring an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. They are open fronted and set on raised wooden platforms, making the most of the magnificent views. Built from driftwood, mangrove poles and with thatched roofs, the cottages blend into their environment. The family cottage accommodates 4 people, with room for an extra bed, ideal for families. The beds are swathed with mosquito nets and there are indeed mosquitos here, but there has been no malaria in this area for over 20 years.

The lodge offers wildlife viewing by boat and guided walking and birding safaris. Other activities include kayaking, sand yachting, waterskiing, snorkelling, fishing and walking along the deserted beaches, or you can relax by the pool and enjoy views of the creek below. Meals are served in the thatched dining area and make great use the fresh local seafood. Sundowners can be enjoyed down by the creek.

Note that you need to be fairly mobile for a stay here as there are plenty of steps and climbing on and off of boats and jetties! We would recommend a minimum stay of 3 nights to enable you to immerse yourself into the environment and make the most of the range of activities and exploring the area.
