The Clarendon is in the affluent suburb of Fresnaye, a few kilometres west of central Cape Town. Located on Lions Head, the hotel offers sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean, and was once the prestigious home of The Earl of Clarendon while he was the Governor of The Cape.
There are 3 categories of rooms, standard, superior and family suites. All are decorated and furnished to a very high standard and epitomise elegant living. They are equipped with air conditioning, IDD phone, free Wi-Fi, minibar, tea and coffee makers and high specification en-suite bathrooms. Family suites have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Rooms overlook either the gardens or the sea.
Breakfast, a choice of light continental fare or a full cooked meal, is served in the high-ceilinged dining room or outside on the sunny terrace, and sets you up well for a day exploring Cape Town and the surrounding area. If you're at the hotel in the mid afternoon you'll be served free tea and cakes, too. The large garden is stocked with trees and flowering shrubs and contain 2 swimming pools and plenty of sunny and shaded space where you can relax after sightseeing or shopping in the city.
