Chobe Game Lodge
Chobe National Park Botswana

Excellent quality accommodation and food. We had a full itinerary of 3 activities each day. We found our guide to be very knowledgeable and she also did very well to spot a leopard which had come down to the river to drink. We also saw lions and brown hyena. We saw quite a few groups of elephants swimming in the river. We were treated to a romantic dinner for two on a private area of the boardwalk on our last night.

5 star hotel on the side of the Chobe river. All creature comforts including Wi-fi! Food very good. Guides not so good. Seemed to lack the knowledge of other guides we have known.

It is just a large hotel so, had I thought about it, I should have opted for something more intimate. Their desire to pack in stuff by squeezing in three activities a day - early morning drive with a wake up at 05.00 (!), late morning river cruise and late afternoon drive is ill-considered. It is exhausting rather than pleasant. Three shorter activities might well work. It is important to allow for leisure/recovery time - bouncing about in a Land Cruiser is quite punishing. Ranks third of the four.

Hotel couldn’t be faulted, just missed being in a tent! Our guide Nio was passionate about her job. interestingly the lodge is run by women!

This facility is effectively a hotel that provides game drives, river trips etc. Whilst the wildlife watching experience was equivalent to other venues, the food and service were not of a comparable high standard.

Very good accommodation and very helpful chef (vegetarian friendly). Lovely staff - lots of trainees. Great to be staying in the Game Park itself. We enjoyed the fact that the guides were female; they worked really well as a team and were very professional and knowledgeable.
