Chobe Game Lodge is unique in that it is the only permanent lodge within Chobe National Park.

(It also has the unusual claim-to-fame that this is where Elizabeth Taylor got married for the second time to Richard Burton!).

It is quite a large lodge, with room for up to 94 guests, and although it is now quite old, it has been beautifully refurbished and maintained so offers a high standard of accommodation. It also has a lovely position on the Chobe River, with boardwalks (seemingly wood, but actually made out of recycled plastic bags!) allowing you to get very close to the river to watch the wildlife.  Elephants are commonly seen in or near the river around here.

The comfortable rooms are all in a row in pleasant gardens, and all face the river. They have private terraces, plus the usual facilities you'd expect such as en-suite bathrooms, aircon, minibar, and safe.  The decor is tastefully done. If you feel like splashing out, there are 4 suites with their own plunge pool and lounge.

In the main public areas there is a dining room and terrace, and a large swimming pool. There is also a deck by the river which is great for just sitting watching the river, and it's a good place to eat too. There are plenty of secluded seating areas so you won't feel like you are in a large hotel.

As far as the wildlife is concerned, this is indeed a prime spot.  Lions love it around here, and, as mentioned, elephants are commonly seen by the river here. The wildlife in Chobe is excellent, with many of the more common species such as impalas, zebras and warthogs as well as sable antelope, big cats, hyenas and even wild dogs. In fact, there is a family of warthogs in the grounds, doing a great job of keeping the grass short.

You'll enjoy the wildlie and wilderness based from Chobe Game Lodge on game drives, and safaris by boat, plus you can't miss a sunset cruise on the Chobe.

If you want luxury in the thick of Chobe, this is a great place to consider.

Hotel couldn’t be faulted, just missed being in a tent! Our guide Nio was passionate about her job. interestingly the lodge is run by women!
