Chobe Elephant Camp is high on a ridge above the Chobe River and floodplains. It's just 5kms from the western entrance to the national park, so is an ideal base for safaris. The chunky wooden furniture, exposed beams, polished floors and warm colour tones combine to create a welcoming and homely atmosphere.

There are 10 chalets plus a larger, family cottage, giving the camp a maximum capacity of 24 guests. All have private bathrooms plus outdoor showers and are air-conditioned. Each chalet has its own deck area, perfect for quiet moments, taking in views of the plains and river.

The main part of the camp is open-plan. Here you'll find several sofas, a bar, a cosy library and the dining area. These lead out to a large viewing deck overlooking a waterhole. The swimming pool comes into its own in the heat of the day.

From the lodge, you can take a game drive in Chobe National Park, famous for its large elephant herds but also home to buffalo, zebra, giraffe and a number of predators including lion, leopard, hyaena and wild dog. It's also prime bird-watching territory, with over 300 species having been recorded. You'll also have opportunities to go on boat safaris, explore nature up close on a guided walk and visit the local village to learn about the daily lives of the Sibuya people.

The lodge has been designed and built following strict eco-friendly principles, minimising its carbon footprint, using reclaimed wood for construction, sandbags for insulation and solar power to heat water and provide electricity.

Client Rating for Botswana 5/5 from 120 reviews

Absolutely first class we were welcomed by all the staff singing us a welcome and it got even better, as you walk in you look through the lounge area and see the whole Namibian plain laid out in front of you. The camp is pretty new and has really enthusiastic staff. The food is excellent and the lodges are well laid out. But the lodges are a fair walk away from the main building up hill. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable on all aspects of nature and the boat ride along the river was unforgettable.
