Chapwani Private Island, Zanzibar, Tanzania

Open: Open from 16th June to 31st March (closed from 1st April to 15th June â€“ rainy season).

Location: Chapwani is a small island about 1 mile from Stone Town, Zanzibar. Chapwani can arrange arrival transfers from Zanzibar airport, a short minibus journey followed by a 15-minute boat ride.

Rooms: There are 10 en-suite rooms in 5 bandas. As well as an en-suite shower room with solar-heated water, each room features a 4-poster bed with a mosquito net, ceiling fan, table and chair plus a private veranda with deck chairs and views of the beach.

Activities: Relax! Swim, snorkel, canoe, follow walking trails and enjoy a therapeutic masssage. take advantage of the boat service to Zanzibar to explore the sites and shops. Staff can arrange excursions on Zanzibar, fishing trips and boat trips to neighbouring islands.

Facilities: There is a small sea water swimming pool overlooking the ocean. The restaurant specialises in fresh seafood with menus varying according to the catch of the day. Special meals can be arranged on private verandas or by the pool. The bar is open during the day and evening and serves a range of soft and alcoholic drinks. Guests can relax on the comfy sofas and enjoy a game of cards or select one of the board games. The boutique is stocked with local handicrafts and souvenirs.

Dining: The restaurant serves a la carte meals served at separate tables.

Children: The lodge accepts children of all ages. Cots are available on request. There is a max of 3 people per room. A child (under 12yrs) sharing with 2 adults goes free. Other discounts are available for children.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is limited hours internet access, to be paid for locally.
