Chapwani Private Island is a 15 minute boat ride from Zanzibar. Accommodation is low key, built in the local style and the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. This is a real away-from-it-all destination, with no intrusive phones or televisions to spoil the peace.

There are 10 rooms in 5 bandas, each with a private sea-facing veranda. Rooms are airy, with high ceilings, fans, 4-poster Zanzibari beds and en-suite bathrooms. The open-sided restaurant has views of the sea. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, juices, hot drinks and toast, with eggs cooked to order. At lunch and dinner seafood is a speciality, freshly caught and prepared using local spices to create authentic Zanzibari favours. The cosy bar serves a range of drinks. 

Spend time relaxing on the sandy beach, sunbathing, swimming in the sea or pool and, if feeling energetic, canoeing. Nature trails criss cross the island's 5 hectares and pass through varied terrain and at low tide it is possible to walk all round the island. There is a boat service between Chapwani and Stone Town, where guests can enjoy guided tours, as well as boat cruises, snorkelling and diving trips.
