You reach Chalalan Lodge by a 5-6 hour ride in a motorised canoe from the town of Rurrenabaque, making you aware of the remoteness of the location. This is a pristine environment and you will spend your days exploring with a local guide on foot and by canoe as you delve deep into the rainforest and seek out its wildlife. It is a real privilege to be immersed in nature.

The cabins provide accommodation for a maximum of just 30 guests, so the lodge ever feels crowded. Most cabins have en-suite bathrooms, and all have verandas with hammocks for resting between activities. The lodge is located on the banks of Lake Chalalan and the water is safe for swimming, another good way to unwind.

You can sample local cuisine, as well as national and continental meals in the restaurant. The food is healthy and nutritious. Fresh fruit juices are provided to accompany meals, and other drinks, including alcohol, are available at the bar. Meals can be eaten together with other guests or at private tables, as preferred. There are regular 'dunucuabi' dinners consisting of catfish wrapped in leaves in the traditinal style, followed by displays of singing and dancing.

Ths staff are drawn from the local community of San Jose se Uchupiamonas, and are well trained in all aspects of hospitality to provide friendly and efficient service.
