Open: Casa Turquesa is open all year.

Location: Casa Turquesa is on the pier in the historic centre of Paraty, about midway between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, which are both approximately a 4 hour drive away.

Rooms: There are 9 guest rooms, all are air-conditioned. They have LCD TV, phone, safe and minibar. Each en-suite bathroom is fitted with a bath, shower and hand basin and comes with a supply of toiletries. They rooms vary in size and some have balconies. Each room is named after the colour that forms the basis of its colour scheme. You’ll find pool towels in your room, plus an umbrella and wellington boots in case of inclement weather.

Activities: You can stroll around the old town, visit churches and museums, walk up to the fort for some far-reaching views, and watch the fishermen bring in their catch on the quay. Boat operators offer trips to beaches and islands. Inland you can take walks in the forest, go mountain biking and horse riding. Experienced divers can dive in the bay and kayaking is another popular option. There are lots of shops and galleries in town for some serious retail therapy. Staff are happy to advise on local attractions, activities and excursions.

Facilities: There is a large central courtyard with a lounge, dining area, bar, garden, sunbathing area, gazebo and plunge pool with a whirlpool feature. There is also an indoor reading room with a computer, Wi-Fi and an fireplace. Casa Turquesa offers an in-room massage service. When you arrive at Casa Turquesa you are given a pair of flip-flops to wear in the hotel and are expected to leave your outdoor shoes by the door, in keeping with local practises.

Dining: Breakfast is a generous buffet spread with home-made cakes, fresh fruit, breads, cheese, fruit juice and coffee. In the afternoon tea and cakes are served. Dining is at individual tables. There are plenty of restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner.

Children: Children aged 14 years and older are welcome.

Health: Paraty is not a malaria area.

Communication: There is a computer and Wi-Fi internet access in the reading room.
