Open: Butterfly House is open all year.

Location: Butterfly House is on the Marau Peninsula near Camamu Bay in Bahia. It is 250km south of Salvador. The nearest airport is Ilheus, about a 90-minute drive from the lodge. Lodge staff can arrange return airport transfers. 

Rooms: There are 11guest accommodations, all self-contained, en-suite and air conditioned. They vary in size and design. Almirante is the largest bungalow with 2 balconies, an outdoor shower and 56 square metres of indoor space. Coruja and Lua suites are both on the second floor of the main house and their balconies overlook the pool. Aurora suite has a private balcony with ocean views. Sara bungalow has 2 single beds and a balcony shared with the adjoining Agra bungalow, which together make great family accommodation. Atlas and Esmerelda bungalows are in the garden and have private terraces. There are also 3 colourfully painted fisherman's bungalows, Kokopu, Opah and Quimera, with cosy interiors and secluded terraces ideal for couples. Many are decorated with French and Moroccan furnishings.  
Activities: Staff are available to assist with all activities and excursions. These include snorkelling and diving, taking boat rides to Tremembe Waterfall, cruising to nearby islands, whale watching (seasonal – October and November are the best months), surfing and paddle boarding. On dry land you can hire a bike, follow hiking trails with or without a guide, and go bird watching. The lodge also offers yoga sessions. 

Facilities: The lodge has a restaurant, Anna Banana, named after the English owner’s daughter, serving delicious Brazilian, French and Asian cuisine. The Butterfly Bar offers a variety of drinks. There’s a pavilion with cushioned couches for sheltering from the heat. There are books and board games free for guests to use. The lodge has several acres of gardens with hammocks and recliners, a swimming pool and sunny lawn. The beach is a short stroll away and loungers are sunshades are provided. The lodge also has a family playroom. 

Dining: Breakfast is a generous buffet spread with fresh fruit, local cheese, bread and jam plus fruit juices and freshly-brewed coffee. Lunch and dinner menus reflect the seasonal produce and seafood plays a large part. Meals are served at separate tables in the restaurant and on the terrace. 

Children: Children of all ages are welcome. 

Health: Bahia is not a high risk malaria area. 

Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access in public areas.
