There is no denying that Big Cave Camp commands spectacular views over the surrounding Matobo Hills.  There is something captivating and thought provoking about these amazing granite boulders that dominate the scenery, and Big Cave Camp's location makes the most of them.

There are 7 A-frame thatched chalets nestling on a hilltop.  Their design is perfect for keeping the rooms cool in the heat of summer yet warm during winter. Each room is tastefully and simply decorated with an African flair, mozzie nets over the beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower and a private balcony making the most of those amazing views. There are two family chalets, a honeymoon chalet, and 4 twin chalets.

The main areas are set against a backdrop of massive boulders that have been incorporated into the design of the structures. The Leopards Lair houses a teak bar serving up ice-cold drinks, a comfy lounge and a communal dining area where wholesome meals are served.  Outside is the natural rock pool and sundeck where you can soak up the rays and enjoy the views.

One of the highlights at Big Cave Camp is the opportunity to track rhino, both by vehicle and on foot.  It is exhilarating to get close to these magnificent animals that are so close to extinction. They are fiercely protected here from poachers! As well as a good rhino population, there is other game to see here.  The camp is on its own 2000 acre private reserve adjacent to Motobo National Park. You can also enjoy game drives in the Whovi Game Park. You may be lucky enough to see a leopard and there are plenty of baboons, birds and plains game to keep you occupied in fact, Big Cave has several nesting sites on the property belonging to birds of prey. The experienced guides will be more than happy to share their expert knowledge with you. A very worthwhile experience would be a visit to the nearby Whitewaters Secondary School and the Ndebele village where you will find Mary, a traditional healer.  This is your opportunity to learn about local life in Zimbabwe, it will be a humbling experience.
