Client Rating for India 5/5 from 130 reviews

If you are lucky, you get to stay in a place like this once in your lifetime. Certainly like no where else we have ever been, this 200 year old fort took us back in time but provided every convenience we could need - including a fantastic walk in shower. The food was amazing, and could be eaten on the roof top, on the lawn or in the dining room. We took a morning boat ride across the river and saw crocodiles. storks, vultures, different kingfishers, lapwings, herons and a tree full of monkeys. We then took a ride to the Badoli temples built in the 10 century. On the return journey to the fort, we took a walk through the Sunday market in a local village, stopping to buy oranges and Indian sweets. People were happy to let us take photographs of their every day happenings. After a late lunch we took a break on the rooftop where my husband enjoyed crocodile spotting with the binoculars. We finished the day off with a late afternoon gentle stroll around the perimeter wall of the fort, crossing the river via the rope bridge to view the fort in all of its glory from the other side. The day was completed with drinks by firelight on the rooftop and a romantic meal for two served under the rooftop pavilion. We originally thought it would provide a convenient stop over on the way to Agra, turns out it was my favourite place in Rajhastan and a place certainly not to be missed.
