Beho Beho was one of the first safari camps in the highlands of Nyerere National Park (previously known as Selous), open to the cooling breezes after which it is named. The accommodation is very spacious, the game viewing excellent and the hospitality generous.
The guest bandas are open wood structures with thatched roofs. Each has a large sleeping area which includes space for seating, a bathroom, dressing area and two verandas, one to the side and the other at the front of the banda, one of which features a plunge pool. This main veranda leads off the sleeping area and there are no doors or screen between (although a curtain can be put up if you wish), so the bedroom is open to the bush. The room feels very secure and there is an electric wire beneath the veranda to deter any unwelcome guests. Rooms are adorned with tasteful African artwork.
Baileys Banda is a larger building with two storeys and can sleep up to four adults or a family of five in two en-suite bedrooms It is set slightly apart from the main bandas so is pleasantly secluded.
The lounge has comfy sofas and chairs and coffee tables. There are lots of books for you to look through as you enjoy a drink from the bar. You can try your hand at billiards if you wish. Outside, a little way away from the main lodge, there is a swimming pool and a deck with sun loungers. Occasional barbecues and buffets are held here. and the boma is the venue for other al fresco dinners.
Activities include game drives in the national park, boat trips on Lake Tagalala and walking safaris, so there is quite a variety to choose from during your stay. Guests staying four nights or more have the option of a romantic sleep-out at The Treehouse with its mosquito net-draped bed and en-suite bathroom, complete with private dinner and breakfast the following morning. This needs to be booked and paid for in advance.

Client Rating for Tanzania 5/5 from 217 reviews

This place has the real wow factor. It is an English country house party in the bush! The designer has created truly stylish, HUGE stone cottages, which are like staying in an extremely elegant private house. The main pavilion, complete with a full-sized snooker table, is breathtaking, as is the view. And the elephants wandering past the balcony make it just perfect. Incredible food, highly professional but friendly team - a real treat.
