Open: Bakuba is open all year.

Location: The hotel is on the southwest coast just 14kms from the town of Tulear, overlooking the Mozambique Channel. Tulear airport is 7kms away.

Rooms: There are 3 guest rooms, 2 which can be configured as double or twin rooms and are 40sqm (‘Lukengo’) and 50sqm (‘Afrik’) respectively, the 3rd being a double room of 50sqm (‘Tembo’). There are also 2 suites, 1 measuring 70sqm (‘Totems’) and the other 200sqm (‘Masai’), both of which have views of the sea. The smaller suite has 2 twins or 1 double bed plus a single bed, and the larger has 1 double bed. Guest rooms and the smaller suite are all in the main building. The larger suite is in its own garden. All have a private bathroom and a terrace.

Activities: Relax on the beach, go swimming and snorkelling, accompany a guide on a walk, use one of the hotel’s bikes to explore the area (no extra charge) and take a sunset catamaran cruise along the coast including sundowner drinks. Staff can arrange a number of excursions, too.

Facilities: There is an open air infinity pool. There is a restaurant and a rooftop cocktail bar. The hotel offers a massage service. Reception is staffed 24 hour a day. The gift shops sells locally made items, and sales benefit the local community.

Dining: Dine on local seafood and specialities like zebu. The restaurant also serves Oriental and Portuguese inspired dishes. The continental breakfast of bread, jam and honey can be complimented by cooked eggs, yoghurt and fruit.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome. 2 of the rooms can take a spare bed to sleep up to 1 child under 12 years. The smaller suite can take an extra bed and can sleep up to 2 children in addition to 2 adults. The larger suite can take an extra double bed and can sleep up to 2 children as well as 2 adults. Children’s meals can be arranged.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is complimentary Wi-Fi internet access.
