Bagan Thande Hotel is within the walled city of Old Bagan, between the archaeological museum and the Irrawaddy River. The hotel has a good range of facilities including a spa, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, pool-side bar, gardens and a souvenir shop. It first opened in 1922, to accommodate the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VIII, and the original building now houses the two suites named after him.

There are superior and deluxe rooms. Superior rooms have private bathrooms and terraces while deluxe rooms are more spacious and have views of either the gardens or river. The hotel also has three top-of-the-range suites.

There are indoor and outdoor dining areas and you can choose between Asian and European dishes. Breakfast is usually served in the gardens beneath Acacia trees, within sight of the river. The Panorama Bar is ideal for pre-dinner drinks and a snack, with ample outdoor seating where you watch the sunset over the river.
