Open: Azura Benguerra is open all year. 

Location: The lodge is on the northwest of Benguerra Island in a National Marine Park. The island is 14kms from the mainland and can only be reached by air and sea. 

Rooms: There are 20 villas, comprising 10 infinity beach villas, 3 luxury beach villas, 3 beach villas, 2 royal beach villas and the larger Villa Amizade and Presidentail Villa. All categories of villa are air conditioned, have tea and coffee making facilities, minibars, en-suite bathroom with twin hand basins and shower, separate outdoor shower and deck with a day bed, loungers and a plunge pool. All come with butler service. Luxury villas offer extra space and infinity villas also have a Nespresso machine, bathtub, 5 metre swimming pool and a ‘gym in a bag’. Royal beach villas are the largest, at 172sqm each, are are at the secluded northern end of the grounds. With a spacious lounge, Nespresso machine, sofas that can be comverted to beds, 2 bathrooms, outdoor decks, salas, an infinity pool and jacuzzi, these offer supreme luxury and comfort.

Villa Amizade has 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 5 including children. Indoor areas include a sitting room with flatscreen TV, DVD, music system and selection of games, plus a wine bar. There are large decks and a 10 metre pool. You can dine privately on meals prepared by your own chef. The Presidential Villa has 3 en-suite bedrooms and sleeps up to 6. It has a sitting/dining room, media room, wine bar, deck, large infinity pool and treehouse, and comes with a private butler and chef. 

Activities: The clear water is perfect for snorkelling and diving with coral reefs where you’ll see dozens of colourful fish. You can take fishing trips and go on dhow cruises to deserted beaches for picnics. On dry land you can take a 4x4 island tour taking in villages and schools, climb sand dunes, go for walks and have picnics delivered at your chosen location! Horse riding is a popular option following trails and cantering along the beach. After dark you can do some star gazing.

Facilities: There is a central lounge and bar with a selection of books and DVDs, and a separate room with a flatscreen TV, and a central restaurant. There is a Gin Bar experience once a week, with a selection of drinks offered. The Peri Peri Beach bar serves cocktails and barbecued meals. The spa offers a comprehensive range of treatments like body wraps, aromatherapy and massages using local ingredients, and a gym for the fitness-minded. The boutique sells clothes and jewellery. There is a laundry service. 

Dining: Meals are eaten at various locations such as on the beach, by the pool and in your own villa as well as in the main restaurant. Picnics can be organised and you can select your ideal picnic spot and have the meal delivered to you. Meals are accompanied by wine, including a selection of the owner’s wines from France. Fresh fish and seafood figure prominently on the menu. 

Children: Children of all ages are welcome. 

Health: This is a malarial area. 

Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access in the bar and lounge.
