Aureum Palace is in the hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin. The main building is the former governor's house, a gracious colonial mansion with lovely teak balconies, wooden beams and large windows. The main social areas are here and include the coffee shop and bar.

A lane runs down from the main house to Maymyo Restaurant. This is a lovely high-ceillinged room, filled with light. It serves Burmese, Asian and European cuisines and has a large selection of wines. In summer the hotel often has barbecues in the garden which are always popular with guests.

Set round the restaurant in the gardens are the 34 bungalows and 6 suites. With hand-made furniture, gleaming wooden floors and large balconies, the accommodation is stylish and tasteful. There's a large en-suite bathroom with both bath and shower, and you'll have a satellite TV, phone and WiFi internet access. You can help yourself to a drink from the minibar as you unwind, enjoying views of the flower and tree-filled gardens from your veranda.
