This lovely hotel is tucked away on the Anjajavy Peninsula in the remote northwest of Madagascar. Only accessible by private plane, it is both exclusive and unspoilt. Accommodation is in beautiful rosewood villas set well apart and there are gorgeous oasis gardens where you can stroll among the tropical flowers, ferns and pools. The quality of the accommodation, service and setting is reflected in its gaining prestigious Relais & Chateaux status, the only such property in Madagascar.
There are 24 villas, arranged to provide seclusion, all facing the beach and Mozambique Channel. The decor is kept deliberately simple, so as not to detract from the beauty of the natural surroundings. Villas are spacious, with a bedroom, bathroom and living room. Though cooled by sea breezes you'll also have air conditioning to modulate the temperature. At the front of each villa there's a secluded terrace.
The restaurant serves a la carte meals made with the freshest ingredients. You can dine in the cool rosewood interior or out on the sunny terrace. Beach dinners are popular, with tables and chairs set up by the shore and meals eaten by lamplight. Special private meals can be arranged in the gardens.
You can explore the reserve on foot, following trails with a guide from the hotel or self-guided using a map. The forest is a haven for wildlife and you may see lemurs, iguanas and chameleons. There are deserted creeks to be explored and miles of beaches. Waterlovers are spoilt for choice with snorkelling, canoeing, waterskiing and catamaran cruises and there's a superb infinity pool. A short walk away, Anjajavy village offers a fascinating glimpse into local life. Back at the hotel you can relax with a massage or beauty treatment at the spa villa.
