Location: Ananda in the Himalayas is located in the foothills of the Himalayas near the cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh, 260kms north of Delhi.
Rooms: There are 78 rooms, suites and private villas. All have en-suite bathrooms with a sunken bathtub and separate shower. They are all air-conditioned and feature a minibar, tea and coffee making equipment, telephone, safe and television. Rooms are 45sqm and have balconies with views of the palace or Ganges River valley. Suites have living rooms and private gardens, and the Ananda and Viceregal suites also have dining areas. Villas have a private pool and a sauna in the bathroom and come with butler service. All rooms, suites and villas have free Wi-Fi internet access.
Activities: The focus of life at Ananda is the spa. It offers a vast range of treatments, fitness activities, wellness activities, beauty treatments and yoga and meditation. It has some 24 treatment rooms, 2 relaxation rooms and 4 consultation rooms. It specialises in Ayurvedic treatments which include massage and diet aimed at healing, cleansing, relaxing and revitalising the patient. Other activities available on site include billiards, golf, jogging and cooking classes. Staff can organise further activities such as temple tours, trekking, white water rafting and wildlife safaris in Rajaji National Park.
Facilities: There is a large swimming pool and sundeck with sunloungers. Guests are welcome to use the library which has a wide range of literary and historical books as well as contemporary works on health and wellbeing. Other facilities include an amphitheatre, music pavilion, billiard room. yoga pavilions and landscaped gardens. The boutique sells spa products, toiletries, silk, art objects, organic food and music books.
Dining: The main restaurant serves India, Asian and Western cuisine. It features a treetop deck, for al fresco eating, Guests can also enjoy light meals, snacks and drinks at the Pavillion. There is also an elegant tea lounge and a winter garden where afternoon tea can be served. Meals are taken at individual tables. Private dining can be arranged. Guests undertaking spa treatments can enjoy a special diet based on Ayurveda principles as part of their programme.
Children: Children below the age of 14 are not permitted at Ananda. The spa treatments are available to those aged 18 and over.
Health: We recommend malarial prophylactics for travel to India.
Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access in guest rooms and in some public areas.
