Amankora Gangtey is set in the picturesque Phobjikha Valley, on a forested knoll with sweeping views of the broad valley and the impressive 16^th century Gangtey Goemba (Monastery). The valley forms part of one of the country's most important wildlife reserves, the Black Mountains National Park, and is home each winter to a flock of 300 rare and endangered black-neck cranes.

There are just eight suites, each identical in design with an open plan living and bedroom area and large picture windows with views across the valley. The bathrooms are equipped with bathtub, separate shower, twin basins and toilet. Rooms are heated by traditional bukharis, wood-burning stoves.

The combined living and dining room has cosy chairs and sofas plus communal dining tables. The floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the valley and mountains. The lodge's spa consists of two massage treatment rooms and changing areas and is situated on the ground floor.

While here guests can enjoy strolls through Gangtey village and visit the massive goemba. There are numerous nature walks and treks that can be undertaken in the valley. In winter it may be possible to see the reclusive black-necked cranes from the Crane Centre near the lodge or from the viewing hide near their main nesting and feeding grounds.
