Open:  Amanjena is open all year.

Location: Amanjena, meaning ‘peaceful paradise’, is a large, walled resort about a 15 minute drive from Marrakech, and 20 minutes from the airport.    

Rooms:  There are 32 pavilions made up of 18 rose-toned pavilions, 6 pavilions basin and 8 pavilions piscine, plus 6 2-storey maisons and the Al-Hamra Maison. Pavilions are air conditioned, have a bedroom, living area with a wood burner, daybed and desk, marble bathroom with a sunken bath, shower, twin basins, toilet and 2 dressing areas. They have private courtyard gardens with loungers and fountains and a gazebo. They have views of the golf course, olive groves, irrigation pool (pavilions bassin), or pool (pavilions piscine). The last also have private plunge pools. Maisons have 2 bedrooms, both en-suite, a living room with an open fire, and a courtyard with a heated pool. The largest accommodation is the Al-Hamra Maison, with 2 bedrooms, extensive indoor and outdoor space for relaxing and dining, a large heated pool and butler service.

Activities:  You can explore the medina, souks, alleys, squares, gardens and palaces of Marrakech, with or without a guide. There are numerous cafes and restaurants here. Staff at the hotel will arrange excursions to surrounding areas, too, such as day trips into the High Atlas or to Essaouira, and activities including hiking, mountain biking (bikes can be hired from reception), games of golf at the 27-hole Amelkis course.  

Facilities:  There are 2 large lounges, a 2-floor library with books, magazines and DVDs, and a boutique selling local handicrafts, jewellery and artwork. The spa includes 2 traditional hammams (steam rooms), Jacuzzi, and private treatment rooms for massage, reflexology, facials, manicures, pedicures and waxing. There is also a gym. The main restaurant serves Moroccan and Mediterranean fare, and there’s a separate restaurant specialising in flavoursome Thai food. In summer meals are often served outdoors. Private meals cane be served in your pavilion or maison, and special occasions can be celebrated in the dining tent. The bar serves drinks and snacks. The hotel has a 33-metre outdoor swimming pool, heated in winter. There are loungers and daybeds, and a separate shallow pool. There are 2 clay courts for tennis, with floodlights for play after dark.

Dining:  Meals are eaten at individual tables in the restaurants or in your own pavilion or maison.

Children:  Children of all ages are welcome. Maisons with their 2 bedrooms and private pools are ideal for families. There is a paddling pool for children. Children’s meals and babysitting can be arranged.  

Communication:  There is Wi-Fi internet access throughout the hotel, including in guest rooms. There are 2 computers with internet access in the library.
