Open: Altiplanico Sur is open from October to May each year, closing for the winter months.

Location: The hotel is in the hills 3kms from the city of Puerto Natales. It faces Last Hope Sound and the Baquedano glacier. Torres del Paine National Park is about an hour’s drive away.

Rooms: There are 22 guest rooms, comprising twins, doubles and triples. Each has a telephone, WiFi internet access, safe, heating and en-suite bathroom. Decor is deliberately low key, and each rooms has its own colour theme. All rooms have a large window with views of the water.

Activities: Go walking, cycling, horse riding, kayaking and fishing near the hotel. Further afield you can go hiking in Torres del Paine National Park, take trips to see Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, cruise on Grey Lake. Hotel staff can help you arrange a variety of excursions through agencies in Puerto Natales.

Facilities: The hotel has a restaurant, bar and lounge with a reading area. Recreational facilities include 2 jacuzzis and a massage service. There is a laundry service.

Dining: The restaurant is open for continental breakfast, lunch and dinner, a 3 course meal with dishes reflecting Patagonian, Chilean, Peruvian and French influences.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: There is no malaria in Chile.

Communication: There is free WiFi internet access throughout the hotel.

Notes: The hotel is part of the Altiplanico group, which also has properties in Santiago, Atacama and Easter Island.
