Somalisa Expeditions is a traditional safari camp in Hwange National Park, with canvas guest tents and cosy commual areas facing a waterhole. It was designed as a replica of the original Somalisa Camp, which itself has subsequently been refurbished.
The six en-suite safari tents have an authentic bush camp feel yet offer home comforts you can enjoy after a busy day exploring the wilderness of Hwange National Park. Polished wooden floors, canvas walls and stylish teak furnishings create a traditional safari atmosphere that feels in tune with its surroundings.
There is a communal dining and lounge, with ample seating, set on a raised wooden deck overlooking the plunge pool and the waterhole, which is very popular with the local elephant population. Watching these creatures relishing mud baths is, not suprisingly, a favourite pasttime for guests at Somalisa Expeditions.
There are daily morning and afternoon game drives, and opportunities for night drives, all led by experienced guides keen to pass on their knowledge and passion for the surroundings. Wildlife often viewed here includes giraffe, zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, several species of antelope plus predators in the form of lion, leopard and hyena. The camp also offers guided walks for those aged 16 and over, with nature walks in the vicinity of the camp for younger guests.
