Waterberry Lodge

Livingstone & Victoria Falls

Rating: Mid-range

Waterberry Lodge overview

Sited on the edge of the Zambezi River, 30 mins drive from Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, Waterberry Lodge offers a simple but comfortable retreat in lovely quiet gardens surrounded by trees.

There are just 7 rooms, including a honeymoon suite, all having private viewing decks. Some look over the river and others a small lagoon or the garden. The rooms are chalet-style made of stone and thatch, with mosquito nets over the beds. All are en-suite. There is a decent-sized swimming pool and lovely bar area with views over the water. Dining is al fresco whenever the weather allows, but otherwise there is a small open dining room.

Two activities a day are included such as a visit to Victoria Falls or a sunset cruise (see In Details for the list). Other adventure activities and excursions (such as whitewater rafting) in the area are available but must be separately booked when you are there.

Cultural visits to the nearby village and school can be arranged and local people are involved here, both being employed by the lodge and supplying materials and groceries.

We find that Waterberry offers and good standard of accommodation for a reasonable price, and with welcoming hosts who make sure that their guests enjoy their stay.

Prof. Roger Butlin (23/03/2016)

"Wonderful place! Expensive but still good value. They had thought ahead and helped us to make the most of our short visit. Service was superb and very friendly."

Mr Stephen Rayner (05/10/2015)
"the lodge was in a lovely setting on the river just far enough outside Livingstone . nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff and the food was first class. "
Mrs.Julie Houston (26/09/2015)
"A beautiful situated lodge our room Swallow looked right out on the Zambezi. Service was great and nothing was too much trouble. Immaculate grounds."
Mr. Mike Gormley and Mrs Jean Gormley (02/09/2015)
"The ferry crossing over the Zambezi and border was a different experience and was smoothed through by our guides. Waterberry is a lovely spot on the bank of the Zambezi. Very different to our other locations. More chilled out. Good accommodation in very well tended gardens. The main buildings are very nice with great river views. Food was good. The river trips were really good with good viewings. We took the local Village visit which was by boat and we really enjoyed it. Although necessarily set up to some degree came over as very natural. We went to the Zambia side of Vic Falls from here. Again a good trip and well planned, even down to the anti Baboon catapults with full instructions ! They worked...and not a shot fired ! The water level was very low indeed for our trip but the positive is you can see right into the gorge. Another very enjoyable stay."
Mr. David Barrans (31/07/2015)
"A lovely relaxing place to stay with so much choice of activities and so well organised. They made everyone feel really special"
