Situated on the picturesque seafront of Stone Town, and just a few minutes' walk from its bustling centre, Tembo House Hotel is a fine old Arab building that has served a number of purposes. For many years it was the American Consultate and, in 1884, it become the premises of Cowasjee Dinshaw and Partner, a famous Trading Company in the western Indian Ocean. Whilst a modern wing has been added, the older part of the building has retained a great deal of its character and historic features.

The ll guest rooms are spacious, and well decorated, with Oriental and traditional Zanzibari ornaments, antiques and furniture.
