Kambi ya Tembo is beautifully situated in the semi arid Masai lands of Sinya and Elerai and is home to some of East Africa's largest elephants (hence the name - Tembo is Swahili for elephant).
Sinya is a private concession of about 600 square km, bordering Kenya at Amboseli National Park with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Ol Doinyo Longido and Ol Doinyo Orok. This is a unique cultural and natural history experience.
Activities include game drives in open topped vehicles, walking safaris escorted by Maasai warriors, interaction with the local Maasai including participation in ceremonies if available. The Maasai here still live traditionally and the interaction with tourists is very carefully monitored. The local tribes people welcome guests and are happy to show you around their ancient homes.
There are twenty en-suite tented rooms with huge living space and verandahs to enjoy the view. Dining can be indoor or outdoor and picnics are often taken in the bush. Sundowner drinks and snacks high up on the rocks overlooking Kilimanjaro is a favourite excursion.
