Breezes Beach Club

Zanzibar & the Coast

Rating: Mid-range

Breezes Beach Club overview

Breezes Beach Club is on a pristine, peaceful beach on the east coast of Zanzibar. It is a family-owned and run hotel that offers warm, personalised service and excellent dining, which makes it perfect place to unwind. The tropical gardens are wonderfully peaceful and there is a large swimming pool ideal for a cooling dip. At Breezes, there is a selection of al fresco restaurants and bars, a spa, marine activities centre and dive centre on site, though none of these compromises the resort's relaxed atmosphere.

Guest rooms are scattered around the tropical garden. They are tastefully decorated in muted ivory tones, with cotton throws, teak wood finishes and Zanzibari carvings. Each has a terrace or balcony, the perfect place for a sundowner. The resort has 4 restaurants offering an extensive range of dining options and styles of food including the best seafood, tropical fruits and spices that the island has to offer and there are several bars where guests can socialise over a refreshing drink.

There is also a PADI dive centre on site which offers services from beginners to advanced diving. The lodge offers classes in Swahili, cooking, and palm weaving. Excursions to places of interest on the island can be arranged. Guests are welcome to sunbathe by the pool or on the beach and enjoy a cooling swim. There is a tennis court.

"A lovely, modern hotel offering all the comforts you’d want for a quality beach holiday. Wonderful beaches, friendly staff, plenty of activities and great food! I would recommend this place weather relaxing after a Kili climb, for some R&R after a safari or just to get away from it all. "

Georgina Jaffee
"Very very good hotel...excellent food but very little attention and involvement in the enviroment. We are divers and the hotel allows people to forage on the beackes in front of the hote; the dive Centre has asked thehotel to get involved in community education etc but to no avail...many other problems with the environment,,,l and there is very little sensitivity or eco- eduation generally."
Clare Grant
"Atmosphere was relaxed. Food good. Rooms a little disappointing, as weren't interconnecting which I thought they would be and so our 8 year old daughter slept in our room; she was unhappy to be in an adjacent room. Also, luxury sea view room didn't have a sea view! Finally, upstairs suites sounded much nicer, but still didn't get round problem of connectivity."
Jean and John, Essex
"A nice hotel with friendly staff and great food. One of the positive things was the fact that we could always get into the sea, even at low tide albeit if only for a paddle."
Steve & Sara Twaddle
"A nice relaxed place to finish our holiday, with plenty to occupy us. Good food, & entertainment every night. We had lunch at The Rock on our penultimate day - what a brilliant venue for a restaurant!"
