Trevoyan Guest House

Cape Town & Western Cape

Rating: Mid-range

Trevoyan Guest House overview

The Trevoyan Guesthouse is a stunning building that oozes Victorian style and charm. It has a great location with several restaurants and cafes in the nearby vicinity but it benefits from the peace and quiet of a residential neighbourhood. It's a great base for exploring the Mother City and surrounds. The house is surrounded by manicured lawns and a majestic 95 year old oak tree provides an impressive welcome.

There are seven rooms in total, 5 in the main house and another two suites in the garden villa. The rooms are individually decorated in a variety of elegant and muted colours and original Oregon wooden floors. The stylish furniture and fabrics blend well with more modern African artefacts strategically placed about the guest house. All rooms have king or queen size beds, satellite TVs, telephone, minibar and WiFi.

The shady veranda provides a wonderful setting for relaxing as does the rooftop terrace with views of Table Mountain. Here on the rooftop terrace is where scrumptious breakfasts are served each morning. Enjoy your breakfast with views of the magnificent Table Mountain as an accompaniment. Inside is the inviting lounge with comfy chairs and sofas. Outside the beautiful gardens provide some pleasant shady spots to spend a little time, and there is also a solar-heated pool at your disposal for a relaxing dip after a hard day of sight-seeing.

Open: The Trevoyan Guest House is open all year.

Location: The hotel is in the suburb of Tamboerskloof, on the slopes of Table Mountain. It's a short and inexpensive 10 minute taxi ride to the V&A Waterfront and Camps Bay. It is a 25-minute drive from the airport.

Activities: Sightseeing and shopping in and around Cape Town, spending time on the beaches at Camps Bay.

Facilities: The guest house has numerous terraces including the roof terrace. There are large gardens and a swimming pool. Staff can assist with restaurant reservations. There is a Fiat500 convertible which guests can hire from the guest house, but it is best to pre-book this.

"Manager v helpful in giving local advice and organising extras. Had great colonial style. A long walk into town, across busy interchanges; we took taxis back in the evening from waterfront "
Mrs. Justine Addison
"Lovely guesthouse in a brilliant location, The service was wonderful, the breakfast perfect and there was a real sense of thoughtfulness and caring here. We stayed 3 nights at Trevoyan and our room (room 3) was quite central within the Guest House. It was a little on the small side and quite noisy in the morning so my advice would be if you're staying longer than one night, ask for a bigger room and away from the dining room. "
Mrs Susan Bryant
"Charles and Dominique were great hosts in this charming Guest House with a good location for exploring Cape Town. They were a mine of information and helped us to sort out our activities, ordered taxis recommending places to eat etc. All staff very friendly and would definately stay there again. Breakfasts were fantastic! We learnt a lot about the political climate too from Charles so it was most interesting. We found the freecitywalks..very good..check website. we did the Historic city walk and the Bokaap walk."
