Thanda Tented Safari Camp consists of 15 spacious and superbly equipped tents, located a quarter of an hour's drive from the main lodge. The guest tents all have four poster beds and ensuite canvas bathrooms. They have views out over the game reserve.
The camp's public areas include a comfy lounge and bar, dining area decorated with African artworks, a gift shop and an outdoor boma. There's a large infinity pool, ideal for a refreshing swim. A waterhole near the camp means that you'll have wildlife on your doorstep.
There are morning and evening game drives in open Land Rovers, guided bush walks, bush breakfasts and dinners and excursions to St Lucia. Other activities that can be arranged here are horse riding on the beach, diving and snorkelling and whale watching (seasonal).
For Thanda, ecological commitment is about people coming together to protect their land, water, animals and plants, to use these resources to benefit future generations. Alongside helping the upliftment of rural communities, Thanda also partners with various wildlife conservation foundations, such as Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation Trust. Through these partnerships, Thanda backs elephant and rhino conservation, plus cheetah breeding and spotted hyena research. They also worked on wild dog conservation for many years.
"The game drives were super and we saw the big 5. The tent accommodation was remote but great. It even had a bath! The food was very good and they catered for my Coeliac diet incredibly well.As soon as we arrived they assured me that they knew of my requirements."
