Kariega Ukhozi Lodge overview

A select and stylish lodge in Kariega Game Reserve with 10 well equipped suites each with a plunge pool and panoramic views, from which you can explore by 4x4, boat and on foot to view the Big 5 and other wildlife of the 10,000 hectare reserve. The lodge was extensively remodelled in 2018, and as well as the spacious suites it provides ample communal areas where you can rest between safaris.

Suites have glass doors and full length windows making them light, and allowing you to enjoying views of the bush as you relax in air conditioned comfort. The deck includes an indulgent plunge pool. There are hot drinks facilities and a minibar so you can help yourself to refreshiments. There are drawers, shelves and hanging space for clothes, and the bathroom has his and hers basins, a large shower cubicle and bathtub.

The main area is set around a small enclosed garden and comprises a lounge, bar and restaurant, the social core of the lodge. Picture windows make the best of the stunning views, and there are open fires and burners adding a cosy feel. There's a terrace where you can relax in the fresh air. The rimflow swimming pool is set a short distance away, linked by a walkway, and is flanked by a sundeck. During your stay you have the use of the wellness centre at Main Lodge a short drive away, offering massages and a gym.

Game drives are offered twice a day and, as well as the Big 5, there are chances to see giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and several species of antelope. Birds are profuse, with over 280 species on record, Boat rides on the river and bush walks are a good way to supplement 4x4 safaris.
