Hilltop Camp is the oldest safari camp in KwaZulu-Natal which was extensively re-built in the nineties. There are around 70 rooms all spread out over the hillside in various formations ranging from 2 to 8 beds. There is a swimming pool and deck area with sweeping views over the valley.
There is a short self guided trail in the grounds of the camp (the camp is fenced, though wild animals may still be in the area) Two hour guided walks can be booked at reception, as can morning or sunset game drives with a knowledgeable local guide. There are several picnic and barbeque sites within the park.
The main area houses the restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at set times, the lounge and bar where you can mix with other guests.
One of the largest parks in South Africa, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is home to the 'big five' plus the elusive cheetah, wild dogs and many other species. It covers 96000 hectares made up of three reserves, Hluhluwe, iMfolozi and the linking Corridor Reserve. These were founded back in 1889 and 1895.

Location: Hilltop Camp is at the top of a forested hill in Hluhluwe Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal. Hluhluwe town is 25kms away.
Rooms: Accommodation ranges from a luxury lodge to self-catering units. There are 20 x 2-bedded rondavels with shared bathrooms and kitchens, 7 x 2-beddded and 22 x 4-bedded self-catering chalets with en-suite bathrooms. A further 20 2-bedded non self-catering chalets are located near reception. They have en-suite bathrooms, a minibar and tea and coffee making facilities. Mtwazi Lodge has 3 en-suite bedrooms and a 3-bedded annex, lounge and kitchen and is set in private gardens. Muntulu and Munywaneni Bush Lodge between them provide accommodation for 8 guests in 4 en-suite bedrooms. They share a central lounge and kitchen. The lodges have their own cooks. There is 24-hour electricity.
Activities: You can walk along the forest trail which leads away from the pool, watch animals from Hilaza Hide and enjoy game drives. The last need to be booked and are subject to availability.
Facilities: The main lodge has a comfy lounge, restaurant and bar. There is a gift shop and a shop selling basic food supplies. The camp has an outdoor swimming pool. The restaurant serves a daily breakfast, a la carte lunches from Monday to Saturday and a buffet lunch on Sunday. Dinners are buffet style meals or braais, depending on the weather.
Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Health: This is a low risk malaria area.

"Whilst this was the largest of the lodges we stayed in the food was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. This was well place for exploring the Northern end of the park. We went on one morning game drive and were lucky to see a pack of Wild Dogs with their puppies. "
