The Clarendon is in the affluent suburb of Fresnaye, a few kilometres west of central Cape Town. Located on Lions Head, the hotel offers sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean, and was once the prestigious home of The Earl of Clarendon while he was the Governor of The Cape.
There are 3 categories of rooms, standard, superior and family suites. All are decorated and furnished to a very high standard and epitomise elegant living. They are equipped with air conditioning, IDD phone, free Wi-Fi, minibar, tea and coffee makers and high specification en-suite bathrooms. Family suites have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Rooms overlook either the gardens or the sea.
Breakfast, a choice of light continental fare or a full cooked meal, is served in the high-ceilinged dining room or outside on the sunny terrace, and sets you up well for a day exploring Cape Town and the surrounding area. If you're at the hotel in the mid afternoon you'll be served free tea and cakes, too. The large garden is stocked with trees and flowering shrubs and contain 2 swimming pools and plenty of sunny and shaded space where you can relax after sightseeing or shopping in the city.

Location: The hotel is in Fresnaye suburb, midway between the V&A Waterfront and Camps Bay. It is a 25-minute drive from the airport, 7 minutes to Table Mountain, 5 minutes to V&A Waterfront, the city centre and Camps Bay.
Rooms: There are 16 rooms, comprising 7 standard, 6 superior and 3 family suites (2 of which are interconnecting). 7 rooms are located in the main building and others are in the 2nd house and in the gardens. All have individual climate control, free Wi-Fi, IDD phone, safe, fully stocked minibar, private bathroom with range of toiletries, hair dryer and shaver point. Most rooms have satellite TVs and tea and coffee making facilities. Standard rooms have views of the garden, and superior rooms overlook the sea, the main difference between the 2 categories of room. Family suites have a second bedroom for children, one main bathroom and an extra room with bath and shower. They overlook the gardens.
Activities: Sightseeing and shopping in and around Cape Town, spending time on the beaches at Camps Bay.
Facilities: The hotel has a lounge, dining room and terraces. There are large gardens and 2 swimming pools. Staff can assist with restaurant reservations. There is off-street secure parking and a security guard on patrol at night.
Dining: The hotel provides a full English breakfast and continental breakfast, and afternoon tea and cakes, free, each day. Guests dine at individual tables in the dining room or on the dining terrace. Lunch and dinner can be arranged on request, as can packed lunches.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome and there are 3 family suites. High chairs, cots, strollers and DVDs are available.
Health: This is not a malarial area.
Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access.
