Mountain Gorilla View Lodge

Rating: Modest

Mountain Gorilla View Lodge overview

Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is ideally situated for gorilla trekking with views of the Virunga Volcanoes about 1km away from the National Parks headquarters. Near the base of the Sabyinyo volcano, the hotel grounds are well tended with a variety of indigenous plants and flowers and plenty of space.

There are 30 rooms in cottage style, built using African designs and local materials where possible. They are all en-suite and have a 'fridge, coffee facilitiies and hairdryer. Modern African prints and furnishings create a cosy feel with armchairs and an open fire.

There is a small curio shop and a large main building with a lounge, bar and dining room.

A cultural dance troop provide evening entertainment with incredible traditional Rwandan Intore dancing.

"Rustic, good accomodation, highly recommended, again staff are excellent and as the whole review is positive and some would say its not believable, a critism would be the staff try too hard to please!"

Colin Bailey-Wood
"The Rwandan people we met at the Mountain View Gorilla Lodge were great fun as we celebrated Shirley's birthday with drinks, cake and dancing."
Laurie Hartnett
"Perfectly situated close to the starting point for the gorilla trek and the accommodations were very nice - perhaps one of the most comfortable beds on the trip. After 2 days spent in planes and airports, we thought we had died and gone to heaven when we got into that nice bed warmed by a hot water bottle. The food was satisfactory, buffet style for breakfasts and dinner. A very nice touch was the group of local children who came to the lodge each evening and danced for the guests out on the grass. Not to be missed."
Mrs Patricia Edney
"Huge cabin in lovely garden with awesome views of the volcanoes. the staff were very helpful, food good. The log fires were very welcome each evening. The only downside was the rather odd shower and how cold the bathroom was."
Miss. Susan Rogers
"Cosy fires in your own room!"
