Pokhara and the Surrounding Area

Rating: Deluxe

Tiger Mountain overview

Located on a ridge about a thousand feet above the Pokhara valley with fabulous views of the Annapurna mountains, Tiger Mountain is a luxurious retreat and an ideal base to relax and explore the beautiful surroundings of the lodge's gardens and the countryside beyond. The lodge is owned and run by pioneers of responsible and sustainable tourism in Nepal.

A total of 19 rooms are housed in stone bungalows spread through spacious grounds and cascading down the hillside. Each light and spacious room is well furnished with luxurious touches such as hand-knotted Tibetan wool, carpets and original watercolour paintings. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and heaters for chilly nights, and each has a private terrace where you can sit out and enjoy the superb mountain and valley views.

At the top of the ridge, the main lodge building includes a comfy seating area, bar and cosy fireplace. Guests are welcome to relax in Colonel Jimmy's Library, which has a wide range of Himalayan mountaineering literature and photographs. There is a separate dining room plus outdoor terraces where meals can be enjoyed in the open air. Tiger Mountain offers a full English breakfast, a Nepali buffet lunch and a choice of European and Nepali dishes for dinner. The lodge has an organic garden growing herbs and salad ingredients while fruit and vegetables are bought in the village.

The gardens are a haven for wildlife, especially butterflies. There is plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying a quiet drink savouring the peaceful atmosphere. The swimming pool offers unparalleled mountain views. Guests can enjoy pampering spa therapies in the privacy of their own rooms while yoga and meditation sessions are also available.

The lodge has its own naturalist guides, and activities on offer including half and full day guided walks, bird watching trips, fishing, golf, visits to nearby villages and paragliding for the more adventurous guests. This is also a good base from which to visit Pokhara, which is just a half hour's drive away.
