Fishtail Lodge

Pokhara and the Surrounding Area

Rating: Mid-range

Fishtail Lodge overview

Pokhara's original lakeside resort hotel, Fishtail Lodge has a great position on a peninsular jutting out into Phewa Lake, with forested hills behind it. The hotel is just a few minutes from the shops and restaurants of Pokhara's bustling Lakeside area, but is on the other side of the lake, reached only by rope ferry making it a peaceful spot to relax in the spacious gardens.

The lodge has 60 rooms in 4 traditionally-styled circular bungalows (12 rooms in each). They are all on the ground floor with a small patio outside. They have an en-suite bathroom with shower, and air-conditioning. There are 24 deluxe rooms are in a separate block. There is a good-size swimming pool, and a restaurant and bar. All in all it is a good quality lodge with a pleasant atmosphere and in a great position.

All profits generated by Fishtail Lodge are donated to the Princess Jayanti Memorial Trust. Karen Roem and Erik Timmers

"Amazing views (I'm becoming repetitive ;) but with hind-sight perhaps the ferry-trip puts you off going for an authentic meal in Pokhara in the evening. Also, I feel they should make wifi available in the rooms, not just the restaurant."

Louise Harra
"A peaceful hotel, with nice food, and a warm fire to huddle up to in winter in the hotel bar!"
David Macleod
"A good hotel, although when we arrived we found that the restaurant was undergoing refurbishment. Our accommodation was comfortable, although the breakfast provided was adequate only. The staff were excellent."
Alun Gee
"Lovely gardens just a pity we never saw the mountains as it was cloudy!"
Peter Hunt
"Cristalino Jungle lodge is an Eco resort but the living accommodation beat all the rest hands down. Spacious, cool & comfortable. You would not think that you were in a remote jungle miles from civilization. The food was quite good. Staff excellent. Other Pousadas in Pantanal & Ilhe Grande were very basic. The hotels were poor, tired and required a makeover. The Pousada Principe is supposed to be an ex royal palace but it was terrible. Poky room no chairs or rubbish bin, fittings falling off door & walls & noisy from room fan, air con', traffic & thin concrete walls."
