Ongava Lodge is a prime safari destination in a private game reserve bordering Etosha National Park. The wildlife is the main attraction: elephants, giraffes, gemsbok, springbok, leopards and lions frequent the area, and rhino can be tracked on foot for an extra special nature experience. Add guided walks, bird watching and photographic hides and you have a comprehensive safari experience.
Between activities you can enjoy the relaxed pace of life at the lodge, savouring meals in the relative cool of the thatched dining area, sipping a drink at the bar as you chat to other travellers. The lounge is a large, welcoming space with plenty of seating that leads out to a terrace where a fire is lit at night. The deck overlooks a waterhole that is visited by a variety of animals and birds, and is floodlit at night. A little way from the main area there's a deck and swimming pool.
Bulit of stone and thatch, and decorated in light tones and with high ceilings, the chalets feel spacious. Aiir conditioning and ceiling fans keep them cool. There is plenty of storage space and you can make yourself a cup fo tea or coffee to enjoy on the veranda. All are en-suite with dual hand basins, flush toilet and shower plus an extravagent outdoor shower. One of the chalets is larger with 2 adjoining bedrooms, making excellent family accommodation.

Location: The lodge is on the 30,000 hectare private Ongava Game Reserve which borders the southern edge Etosha National Park near Andersson Gate. It is situated in a rocky ridge with far reaching views across the plains.
Rooms: There are 14 chalets made up of 13 twins and 1 larger family chalet that sleeps up to 4 in 2 bedrooms linked by a shared deck. Each of the twin bedded rooms can take an extra bed to accommodate 1 child if needed. Beds are equipped with mosquito nets. All rooms are air conditioned, have ceiling fans, tea and coffee maker, hairdryer, safe, power points for charging and en-suite bathroom with twin hand basins, flush toilet, a shower and an extra outdoor shower. Toiletries are provided. Bedrooms are high-ceilinged, light and airy. Each has a private terrace.
Activities: Ongava Lodge offers game drives, night drives, guided walks, rhino tracking on foot, bird watching walks and has a hide where you can sit and watch the wildlife.
Facilities: The central thatched room has a dining area, bar, lounge and gift shop. The deck overlooks a waterhole which is floodlit at night, and meals are often served here. There’s a swimming pool and sunbathing deck. A laundry service is included.
Dining: Meals are eaten at individual tables, indoors and outside on the deck.
Children: Children aged 6 years and over are welcome. There is 1 larger family chalet to sleep up to 4 and the twin chalets can sleep up to 2 adults and 1 child. The camp is not fenced and children must be kept under supervision at all times.
Health: This is a malarial area.
Communication: There is Wi-Fi in the main lounge. There is mobile phone reception.
