This is the perfect place to get away from it all and ideal for self-drivers. Simply put, Eagle’s nest is a unique collection of 8 cottages dotted about the hillside. Built 7km from the main reception and restaurant (which also serves the Desert Horse Inn) the cottages are built into the rocks or hillside. They are all individual, built out of stone and are simply furnished with wooden furniture and natural touches. There is an open fire, fully equipped kitchen with honesty bar and outdoor braai (bbq) area, so you can opt to purchase a braai pack from reception and cook for yourself or eat in the restaurant if you prefer. It’s isolated and beautiful, but if you want company, the restaurant is just a 15 minutes away. The drive to and from dinner is a mini-adventure and you may see the wild horses, ostrich and klipspringer on the way.
Many people choose to stay in this area, the Klein Aus Vista Reserve, when visiting Luderitz and the ghost town Kolmanskop which are about 120 km away. On the way, just 20km from Eagle’s Nest is the hide and waterhole, where you can spend a little time and hopefully see the wild horses of Aus which roam this area. You can also take nature walks in the area around your accommodation and game drives and mountain biking are also offered. The sunsets from your cottage are a beautiful
