Bazaruto Beach Getaway

6 days from £2035pp plus international flights.

Escape to a tropical island in the warm, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Try your hand at watersports, dive and snorkel with tropical fish, ride a board down a sand dune, relax with a pampering massage and dine by the beach. You'll be amazed how many highlights you can pack into six days!

Your home is Anantara Bazaruto, a resort providing high quality accommodation, a range of facilities and impeccable service. Your beach villa is your home-from-home, spacious with living and dressing areas, as well as a bathroom with a separate, sensual outdoor shower. To the front there's a veranda where you can gaze out to sea as you sip a chilled drink from the minibar.

There are two pools, one adult-only, a spa boasting an impressive range of facilities, a watersports centre, and guides to lead you on nature walks, so each day can be as action-packed as you wish. With three separate dining locations, all including al fresco areas, and a team dedicated to arranging private meals, you need never eat the same meal in the sale place twice, unless you choose to!

We've managed to incorporate a long stay discount, so this getaway is good for your pocket as well as mind, body and soul. Beware however, this holiday comes a health warning - you could become addicted to island life!

take life easy at Anantara Bazaruto

Your flight arrives at Vilanculos, where you'll be transferred to the harbour for the boat ride to Bazaruto Island. Keep your eyes open for dolphins who often swim alongside boats. On arrival you'll be transferred to Anantara and shown to your beach villa. Refresh yourself with a shower and change of clothes, then take a stroll to find your bearings round the resort. Meals are included in your stay, so depending on your arrival time you can enjoy a bite of lunch before settling down to some serious relaxation this afternoon. Your hardest decision today may well be at which of the resort's restaurants to have dinner! Lunch, dinner.
Snorkelling near Anantara Bazaruto

Enjoy a hearty breakfast as you look forward to the next few days on this lovely Indian Ocean island. The water will prove hard to resist, whether it's snorkelling, diving, waterskiing or wake boarding, all of which can be arranged on site. There are two pools, one adults only and another for families, so water lovers will be in their element. In the afternoon you can relax and soak up some sun, or take a walk along the beach and enjoy the panoramic ocean views. Tonight you might opt for dinner on the beach deck or on the beach itself at Tartaruga, with dishes like lobster fettuccini and beef espetada to tempt you. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
The juice bar at Anantara Bazaruto spa

This morning you can venture inland with a guide on a special ornithological walk. Bazaruto Island has over 180 species of birds, including large numbers of pelicans and flamingos plus many types of waders. Your walk will take in tidal pools and lake known for their abundant birdlife. Later, back at the resort, why not treat yourself to a massage or beauty treatment at the spa where professional therapists draw on eastern and western techniques to leave you feeling revitalised and renewed. Afterwards sit and relax as you sip a refreshing drink at the juice bar before heading back to your villa. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
See fish as you snorkel near Neptunes Nursery

During your stay you'll be offered a complimentary snorkelling trip to Neptune's Nursery, weather permitting. The water is amazingly clear here, allowing you to see brightly coloured tropical fish, and maybe manta rays and turtles. If you still have energy to spare you can set out by kayak later for some exploring above the water's surface. You'll have worked up an appetite today, so you might want to reward yourself by contacting 'Dining by Design' who will arrange a private dinner for you, complete with a personal chef, in the location of your choice. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Sunset dhow cruise from Anantara Bazaruto

Today you can take time to brush up your culinary skills with a cookery class led by one of the chefs. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up a few tips and learn the secrets of tasty Mozazmbican cuisine, heavily influenced by Portuguese flavours and techniques. Alternatively you can experience the thrills of dune boarding, as you race down a sand dune in far less time that it too to climb up there! Enjoy a quiet afternoon on the beach or by the pool, before boarding a traditional dhow for a leisurely sunset cruise, a wonderful way to round off your time on Bazaruto. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Bid farewell to Bazaruto Island

Having breakfasted and packed your bags it's time to leave the island. You'll be taken to the boat for the ride back to Vilanculos on the mainland, a last chance to watch dolphins, where this holiday ends. Breakfast.
