Azura Quilalea Holiday

7 days from £3788pp plus international flights.

If you're need of some serious rest and relaxation, look no further than Azura Quilalea! This Indian Ocean island offers the perfect retreat from 21st century stresses. Lay back and listen to the sound of the breeze in the palm trees and the waves on the shore....the pace of life is beguilingly gentle and you'll feel your cares slipping away...

Azura Quilalea is the quintessential tropical island. Covered by lush vegetation, fringed by white sand beaches and set in the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, this will be your home for a whole, wonderful week. You'll arrive in style from the mainland, on a 25-minute flight by helicopter, quite a start to your holiday! Your ocean-facing villa is kept cool by air conditioning, though you can elect to open the doors and windows wide and admit let the sea breeze. There are loungers and daybeds on the private deck, so you can choose sun or shade. Add to this discreet butler service and you'll be in seventh heaven.

With just nine villas this is an exclusive resort whose cheerful staff make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Consult with the chef over favourite foods, talk to the guides about island walks and with the water-sports specialists about snorkelling, kayaking and diving. You can choose how to spend each day, filling it with as much activity as you want, or spending easy hours by the pool or beach. There's no pressure to do anything other than relax and enjoy your stay!

It may all sound too good to be true, but believe it! Your week here will leave you feeling fully rested and revitalised, with a renewed energy of mind, body and spirit, a whole new you.

Azura Quilalea from the air

A representative meets you at Pemba airport to show you to the waiting helicopter for the 25 minute flight to Azura Quilalea. As the small island comes into sight you'll feel a sense of anticipation and excitement - your very own island hideaway and home for the next week! You'll be welcomed by the Azura team who'll you get to know well over the next few days. Unpack you bags in your Kaskazi villa, named after a cooling breeze, and saunter out to the shaded deck facing the Indian Ocean. Pinch yourself to see if this is real! Go diving while at Azura Quilalea

After a good night's sleep and lie in (you are on holiday after all), it's time for breakfast, usually served on the beach. Ponder how to fill your time. If you're a water baby you'll be drawn to the warm ocean waters where you can swim and snorkel. The diving here is excellent, both straight off the beach and at sites further out. Azura's resident watersports specialists will be happy to help you with your chosen activities. In the afternoon you may simply want to rest, topping up your tan or dozing on a daybed in the shade. Relax by the pool at Azura Quilalea

Awake to the sound of the waves on the shore just a short way from your villa as you prepare for another day in paradise. Today you might like to explore the island. Quilalea covers just 86 acres and has 4 sandy beaches and inland the lush vegetation is home to many species of birds including weaver birds, bee eaters and paradise flycatchers. A guide will lead you on a walk to view birds and giant baobabs, returning in time for lunch. This afternoon relax by the pool or try a pampering spa treatment. Full board
Azura Quilalea kayaking

You might want to take it easy this morning, enjoying a cooling swim in the pool or sea, and catching up with some reading or making use of the free Wi-Fi in the lounge to make contact with friends and family back home. In the afternoon you can take one of Azura's kayaks out to enjoy some healthy exercise. Paddle across to neighbouring Sencar Island where you can explore the mangroves. Having worked up a thirst head back to the Azura for a refreshing drink in the bar, before showering and changing for dinner. Full board
Visit Ibo Fort while at Azura Quilalea

If you wish you can take a tour of Ibo Island today. This has long been an important trading centre, with goods such as jet, amber, ivory and turtle shell. Historic forts bear testament to this rich past, as does the facing grandeur of decaying colonial mansions. It's a fascinating tale. You'll also get to meet some of Ibo's current inhabitants before heading back to Quilalea, where tonight you can enjoy a romantic candle-lit dinner on the beach. Full board
Beach picnic near on Quilalea Island

On your last full day at Azura why not follow the walking trail to turtle beach, carrying a picnic lunch with you to enjoy as you gaze out over the Indian Ocean in perfect seclusion. Watch out for birds in the trees as you amble back to the lodge, and in the late afternoon you can sail out in the private dhow on your very own sunset cruise, borne along by the ocean breeze.
