Valley and Coast

10 days from £1195pp plus international flights.

Mauritius is well known for its beaches and this lovely holiday includes plenty beach-time at one of favourite ocean-side hotels, but you'll also get to see the often overlooked interior with opportunities for nature walks, bike rides and bird watching.

Your first home is lovely Lakaz Chamarel in the southwest of the island. The Mauritian owners will welcome you, happy to share this beautiful spot with you and to introduce you to the delights on inland Mauritius.

In this restful valley setting you will feel yourself start to unwind and cast off the cares of everyday life. You can bask in the sun and go for cooling swims in your preferred pool - there are 2 to choose from. Further relaxation comes in the form of yoga sessions and massages at the spa. If you've out exploring the natural beauty of the Black River Gorges National Park you'll have worked up an appetite. You're in the right place! The food here is great.

The beach beckons and you'll be taken across the island to the southeast coast to Le Preskil Beach Resort. With the ocean on one side and a natural lagoon on the island, this is a picturesque location. It's a scene to take your breath away.

You can be as active or not, as you wish. There's no pressure to do more than laze on the beach, go for a stroll in the grounds and enjoy a cocktail at the bar. Should you feel more active there is a wealth of activities on offer including all manner of water sports and excursions. For a special treat you can join the full day catamaran cruise to the Ile aux Cerfs, famous for its sandy beaches considered by many to the be some of the most beautiful in the world.

This holiday will show you varied aspects of Mauritius and leaves you free to balance your time between activity and relaxation as you wish. It's a great introduction to this exotic island, but be warned - it may well leave you wanting more!
